A New World

He sat still. Please let it be good news, he said

Behind the doors, lives were at stake. The outcome would change his life forever. He glanced at the clock.

Seconds ticking away seemed like hours. He stood up and paced.

Two doors cracked opened. He stood and stopped breathing for a second. No one came out. The two doors closed again.
What? He shook his head in disbelief. Nervous.

He cracked his fingers. Shook his legs. The doors opened. A masked man in blue came to him. “Congratulations, it’s a boy!”

His face beamed. A father at last…

O you who believe! Let not your properties or your children divert you from the remembrance of Allah. And whosoever does that, then they are the losers.
( سورة المنافقون , Surah Al-Munafiqoon, Chapter #63, Verse #9)

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, “Every child is born with a true faith of Islam (i.e. to worship none but Allah Alone) and his parents convert him to Judaism or Christianity or Magianism, as an animal delivers a perfect baby animal. Do you find it mutilated?” (Sahih Bukhari Book #23, Hadith #467)

*Notes : This is a flash fiction genre. It is written with exactly 100 words (minus the verses and hadeeth)

What is a flash? In brief, flash fiction is a short form of storytelling. Defining it by the number of words or sentences or even pages required to tell a story, however, is impossible, for it differs from writer to writer, editor to editor. Some purists insist that it is a complete story told in less than 75 words; others claim 100 should be the maximum. For less-rigid flashers, anything under 1,000 words can be considered flash-worthy. And there are even a few who stretch their limits to 1,500 words.

May also be known as short-short stories, sudden, postcard, minute, furious, fast, quick, skinny, micro, bytes, bits and mini micro fiction, among others.
